Solvent Traps: Are they legal or not

 While Solvent Traps in their most basic form are fully legal, it does not mean the BATFE (ATF) doesn't have an issue with them. The ATF has recently posted an "open letter" regarding Solvent Traps and their definition of such devices.

The fact remains that true Solvent Traps are NOT suppressors or silencers and are very simply used for keeping your cleaning fluid from spilling everywhere while cleaning your firearm or for filtering your expensive solvent. 
While millions of law-abiding citizens have zero illegal intentions, the ATF believes otherwise and wants to make certain forms of Solvent Traps illegal. In our opinion, as long as your solvent trap remains just that, (A devise for cleaning your firearm and containing your solvent) they are legal, and you should be allowed without judgement to possess one for that purpose.
